Big Horse Inn & Suites became a vision for Don and Trinity Archdale after opening Big Horse Vineyards in 2016, in Lewistown, IL.  Lewistown is a small community in Fulton County, rich in history, agriculture and small-town living.  Wanting to create a whole experience for their guests, Don and Trinity hired a local Amish group for the construction of this 12-room boutique hotel in 2017 which was completed in May 2018.   

 

Our lobby features a fireplace with hand laid slate stone work.  The walls are a combination of knotty pine boards and rustic corrugated tin, bringing outdoor appeal indoors.  The front desk is topped with slate tiles that match the fireplace and the floors are hand stained concrete.  Our two Ashley sofas are a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee by the fireplace or to visit with other guests. 

 

We offer a variety of room types which are equipped with wall-to-wall carpet, individual heating and cooling units and handcrafted Amish furniture. They include standard rooms with a king bed or a queen and double bed.We also have suites with a king bed and sofa sleeper.  Two of our rooms are handicap accessible with roll-in showers.  Each room is furnished with 42" flat screen HD TVs and Rokus, so you can Sling while relaxing on our Serta Perfect Sleep Mattresses with handcrafted Amish log bed frames.  Guests also have the option of signing in to their own Netflix or Hulu accounts.  High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. 

 

Visit Local  attractions such as Big Horse Vineyards, Native Trails Winery, Orchard Hill Farm, Dickson Mounds Museum, Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge and Nature Preserve and more.  If you visit the first two weekends in October, you can check out the annual Spoon River Scenic Drive that brings food and craft vendors from all over while enjoying the beautiful colors and smells of the fall. Or, skip the vendors and crowds and enjoy a leisurely drive through the countryside any time of year! Stop at the local Visitor’s Center or ask our staff for recommendations during your stay.
